Do schools kill creativity?



Ken Robinson is a British internationally recognized leader in the development of human resources and creativity. He has worked with important persons around the world. Including UNESCO, European Union and the Royal Shakespeare Company. In Early ages he was Professor of Arts Education at the University of Warwick.

He goes around the world giving and telling his experiences about creativity. This time we will talk about his particularly presentation on TED. There he speaks about how schools wide world stop the rise of the creativity on Childs. He said that contemporary people just care about the brain and head. Forgetting Body, all we have one! And we are underrating it.

He gave a singular example. All we never had imagined Shakespeare as a young boy. Well He had to be one, one day! And how the school has influencing on him?

Actually schools have maths and language on 1st place, then comes humanistic sciences and 3rd comes arts. And they are separated on this category: first visual arts and music on 1st place then comes drama and dancing. Is this logic? Of course it isn’t. Some remarkable talents are raised on school. And this world is getting full of people who think the rights mathematics ways. Because mistakes aren’t allow. It doesn’t mean that the idea is do just mistakes. The idea is learn that we have to take some risks to do new and fantastic things. Just on the road we can fall. But this is okay.

What we need is called Evolution. We need on this world more people who think on new ways of do things and no just people who think in perfection the ways that we already have. And creativity is the same not more or less, the same important than mathematics. We need people being happy with what they are doing not just people doing things because is all what they are allowed.
